Frequently Asked Questions:
Who can get baptised?
Anyone who has put their faith in Jesus Christ by repenting, believing in Him, and deciding to follow Him as their King.
Do I need to least get my life together first?
No! Baptism is a symbol of faith and rebirth, and is for anyone who has decided to follow Jesus.
How old do you have to be to be baptised?
Jesus was 30 when he got baptised, but there is no official age limit. We believe the only requirement is that a person can articulate the Gospel and grasp what they are declaring for their life, which is different for everyone.
Do I have to get baptised in a Sunday service and share my testimony in front of everyone?
Baptism is not just ‘between you and God’, it is immersion into God’s community of believers called the Church. For this reason, baptism is usually done together as a church family in a Sunday gathering. We also encourage those wanting to be baptised to share their story of meeting Jesus as a declaration of their faith and as an encouragement to the rest of the family. However, if speaking in front of a group is a barrier stopping you from getting baptised, we believe nothing should stand in the way of baptism, so please speak to us and we will try and work something else out.
I have been a follower of Jesus for a while but have never been baptised. Is it still important for me to get baptised?
Absolutely! Baptism is an important step of obedience for all believers, regardless of how long you’ve been a believer. It’s never too late to follow through with this public declaration of your faith. Baptism is a powerful affirmation of the relationship with Christ you already have.
Can I be baptised again?
We allow believers who were baptised as an infant in another church tradition to be baptised by full immersion if they feel convicted to. We see this as confirming and honouring the decision made by their parents and a step in following Jesus of their own accord.
