SANTA GOD

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS…

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the lands,

Few creatures were stirring—just sheep and shepherd bands.

Lambs on the hillside were watched over with care.

As Bethlehem slumbered, the angels prepared

To bring gladdest of tidings from high to the low—

Sinsick humanity would know what They know!

Nothing to do with sugar plum visions ‘n naps,

God’s plan would break sin; Love stood in the gap!

In the fullness of time, a cry broke silent night;

‘Twas greeted with braying and lowing, a sight

To behold in feed trough—baby born to a girl,

Blest to bear Godseed—she, His Son did unfurl.

Instant Messenger ablaze came down, said, “Fear not!”

But faces book’d fear; herders hearts tweeted, “What?!”

Then suddenly the glory of God shone bright,

And choirs of angels burst the darkness with light!

“Glory to God in the highest realm!” was their song.

“On Earth, peace ‘n favor to mankind do belong!

For to you is born this day in David’s city,

A Savior, the Messiah, the LORD so pretty!

And this is a sign, a signal you’ll soon see—

A babe wrapped in rags in a manger He’ll be!”

As soon as angels came they left without clatter,

Dazed shepherds behind to go see what’s the matter.

So wasting no time, they came down from the hills;

They found manger and hay; they found cattle and swill.

Behold, ‘neath Fathers’ gaze and virgin’s breast,

Savior-babe, the God-child, was swaddled at rest.

The angel was true; there’s only one thing to do:

Go tell it high and low, “God’s gift is here for you!”

That’s the message of Christmas, through struggle and strife:

“Merry Christmas to all—to all Eternal Life!”

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS…

When we figure out ___________ we want for Christmas this year, we ought to evaluate whether God (plus nothing) is enough for us!

WHY?

  1.    Because time is ____________!

[Today], this is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out.  Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed! [Rom 13:11]

  1. Because if HE isn’t enough, then what __________ do you want? [Gen 3]
  2. Because our response makes all the difference in the _________!

God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not die but have eternal life! [Jn 3:16]

How do you respond to God’s love gift of Himself at Christmas?

  1.  Like HEROD:  Want Him ___________! [Mt 2:13]
  2. Like BETHLEHEM: Amazed at the ____________ of it all! [Lk 2:18]
  3. Like ANGELS: Giving _________ to God & wishing ________ to us! [Lk 2]
  4. Like MARY: Quietly ______________ all these things in your heart. [Lk 2:19]
  5. Like MAGI: Worshiping Him with our best ___________. [Mt 2:11]
  6. Like SHEPHERDS:  Rejoicing so much they had to ___________ it! [Lk 2:16-17]

IF YOU RECEIVED NOTHING ELSE FROM HIM,

IS GOD ENOUGH FOR YOU? IF NOT, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?
